HOW TO FIND INFORMATION FOR THIS COURSE
Consult the Library & Information Science Subject page
For Books (including ebooks)
Search IUCAT. Some sample searches below:
a) Author: Fourie, Denise
b) Title: Encyclopedia of library and information sciences (Note: for a known title, I prefer to click on “Begins with (browse)” and then browse on the title, as this is brings up far fewer results and is usually a time-saver.)
c) Keyword: libraries and collections and evaluation
For tips on effective keyword searching, see: Boolean Operators.
If you can't find what you are looking for in IUCAT, search WorldCat.
You may submit an ILL (interlibrary loan) request directly from WorldCat. Keep in mind that it may take 1-2 weeks for books to arrive, whereas electronic copies of articles generally can be obtained faster. We offer ILL service free of charge to you.

For searching for journal articles, use journal Indexes and databases
Selected online indexes can be found by going to any IUB Libraries web page and typing the index/database name in the big white search box at top of screen. Each database has its own protocol (and online help) for searching, but keyword Boolean searching works well for most.
