Latino Studies is published by Palgrave Macmillan. The following is a summary of Palgrave Macmillan’s general policy for depositing scholarly articles from its journals into institutional repositories such as IU ScholarWorks. Policies for each journal may vary slightly, so it may be necessary to review your author contract for complete details. 

Pre-Print (pre-refereeing) – The author may deposit their pre-print manuscript into IU ScholarWorks. Contributed articles must include a statement indicating where the article has been submitted. Upon acceptance, the statement must be modified to state “accepted by [JOURNAL TITLE].” After publication, authors must add the following acknowledgement to the pre-print manuscript and include a link to the definitive version on the Palgrave Macmillan website:

This is a pre-print of an article published in [JOURNAL TITLE]. The definitive publisher-authenticated version [insert complete citation information here] is available online at: [insert URL here]

Post-Print (post-refereeing) – The author may deposit their post-print manuscript into IU ScholarWorks, but only 18 months after publication in the journal. The publisher's version/PDF may not be used. “Post-print” refers to articles that have undergone peer review but have not passed the final copyediting stage. Post-prints deposited after the 18-month holding period must include the following acknowledgement, along with a link to the definitive version on the Palgrave Macmillan website:

This is a post-peer-review, pre-copyedit version of an article published in [JOURNAL TITLE]. The definitive publisher-authenticated version [insert complete citation information here] is available online at: [insert URL here]
