Feature Film Collections/ Subject Area Studies on the IU Bloomington Campus

Film Studies Collection
The Film Studies collection acquires materials to support the interdisciplinary study and research of film literature of the 20th century. The collection supports the study of film history, the critical and scientific aspects of film making, and film culture as it relates art, entertainment, and cultural expression. The collection's strengths lie in the area film criticism, culture, and history.

 

David S. Bradley Film Collection
The Lilly Library at Indiana University acquired the Bradley Film Collection in 1997 following the death of collector and filmmaker, David Shedd Bradley. The collection spans the history of cinema in the United States and Europe, including both classic and obscure films from France, Germany, Italy, Russia, England, and Scandinavia, as well as the films of the world’s most acclaimed filmmakers.

 

Western European Studies Movie Library
The West European studies office houses an extensive collection of feature films and documentaries related to Western Europe on DVD, VHS/videotape, and laserdisc formats.

 

East Asian Studies Center
The East Asian Studies Center maintains a lending library of videos on China, Japan, and Korea. It's free and available to the IU community and K-12 educators.

 

Black Film Center/Archive
The BFC/A is a facility where scholars, students and researchers can view films and have access to auxiliary research facilities on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. Black Camera, the micro-journal of the Black Film Center/Archive, serves as an academic, professional, and community resource.

Russian and East European Institute provides Instructional supporting services about East European Feature Films.
