Media Collections at Wells Library & ALF
Digital Streaming Titles -- Established in 2008, this multidisciplinary collection contains over 1,100 digital files licensed for the IUB community. The largest group of titles are those made available from the Film Media Group Health Collection. Digital files can be linked to OnCourse, and E-Reserve. CAS authentication required. Ask our friendly staff about access to other multimedia databases such as Dance in Video, Ethnographic Video Online, and World History in Video.
Scheduling Media for Classroom Use: Instructors on all IU campuses can schedule items in the Wells Library Teaching and Research collection for specific dates. The form is available here: Schedule A Media Item for Class Use. Please submit requests at least a week ahead of the use date.
Media Browsing Collection (open stacks) -- established in 2001 through the generous donation of Jerry and Phyllis McCullough, former owners of Bloomington's Classical Film and Music, the Browsing collection includes an eclectic mix of feature films in English and foreign languages, as well as documentary films. The feature film browsing collection includes nearly 9,500 VHS tapes, over 3,000 DVDs, and a small number of audiobooks, language learning tapes and CDs, and videogames. The documentary browsing collection includes over 3,000 VHS tapes and DVDs. Multimedia items can be checked out to all Indiana residents with a valid IU ID card or Borrower's card. Patrons may borrow up to three items (mix and match), or one TV Series set for seven days. All audio recordings circulate for 14 days. Items can be renewed once (in person, 855-1650, or through IUCAT). Overdue fines are $1.00 per day per item. Due to the heavy use of materials located in the Media Browsing Collection, these items are not available for Hold, Recall, or request delivery via Interlibrary Loan.
