Assessment
The Teaching & Learning Department is a leader on campus in the assessment of information fluency education, including the assessment of information access and use, writing, course construction, and curricular design. The department will continue to expand upon current assessment initiatives and explore new ones regarding information fluency in order to better understand and support teaching and learning on campus.
Areas of Information Fluency Assessment
This assessment program aims to mirror the main themes of nationally-recognized information fluency standards and initiatives. These themes include:
- Student’s ability to….
- determine their need for information
- access information efficiently
- critically evaluate and use information for written, oral, or electronic presentations
- use information ethically and legally, and cite sources according to appropriate disciplinary guidelines
- Integration of Information Fluency Principles With Existing Courses and Curricula
- New course design based on information fluency principles
