The growth of electronic publishing has encouraged new ways of thinking about how scholarship is created, shared, and preserved. Online institutional repositories provide researchers with a powerful way to increase the visibility of their work, ensuring that it will be permanently archived and easily accessible to readers. The Indiana University Libraries, in partnership with the Digital Library Program, have created IUScholarWorks, an online institutional repository designed to promote open access to the work of the IU scholarly community. The Libraries have also developed a webpage titled Scholarly Communication that provides researchers with suggestions about how they can support new approaches to academic publishing.

The Latin American Studies Collection has compiled the following subject-specific copyright information about publication in scholarly journals. Included is a list of major journals in the field of Ibero-American and Latin American Studies. This webpage is continually updated, and new titles and publishers will be added to the list as information becomes available. Policies may vary somewhat from publisher to publisher, so it is important to consult your author contract for specific requirements related to depositing articles.
