Wireless Access
Wireless Access for IUB Students, Faculty and Staff
The IUB Libraries partner with UITS to provide locations for wireless access throughout the public areas in libraries around the IU Bloomington campus. Anyone with a valid IU Network ID, who possesses a compatible wireless card in their mobile computing devices can connect to Libraries' electronic resources, all other IU services available through the Web, and other Internet resources from within the Libraries.
There are three ways to connect to wireless on the Bloomington campus:
IU Secure is a new wireless network for IU students, faculty, and staff that uses WPA2 Enterprise (WiFi Protected Access) for authentication. You can use IU Secure to access resources on the web securely, without using a VPN connection.
In areas where IU Secure is not yet available, connect to the IU Wireless Network and establish a VPN connection for secure access to IU resources and the Internet.
If you cannot use either of these resources, you can use the unencrypted wireless network to access the Internet and any IU resources that use the secure HTTPS protocol (for example, OneStart).
To connect to an IU wireless network, you must first register your MAC address. If your device is not registered, you will not be able to access the Internet.
