  • What do all those locations mean?
    ALF = Auxiliary Library Facility
    ALF-R = Auxiliary Library Facility restricted. 
    B-Lilly = The Lilly Library
    GIMSS = Government Information, Microforms, and Statistical Services, East Tower 2nd floor of the Wells Library
    RCSEC = Wells Library Secure Area.  Also Wells Library Secure Area Oversized.  Ask Circulation for assistance.
    RCSECJOU = Wells Library Secure Area Journals.  Ask Circulation for assistance.
    RCSTACKS = East Tower of the Wells Library. Check the posters near the elevators for the correct floor.

    *Most periodicals cannot be checked out.  Some restricted or secure materials may have to be read in a reading room, which are located at GIMSS or the Lilly.

Secondary Sources: Finding Articles

  • America: History & Life - index of history articles, books, dissertations, etc.  If your article is not in full text, click the IULINK icon to check for availability.
  • JSTOR - full text access to scholarly journal articles of a variety subjects.
  • Project Muse - full text access to scholarly journal articles of a variety subjects.
  • Academic Search (EBSCO) - online access to scholarly and popular journal and magazine articles of all subjects.

Looking for a scanner?  Need scanner help?
Scanners in the Wells Library are located on the first floor of the East Tower within the mix of regular computer terminals. Additional scanners are available in the Information Commons. Also, the Government Information, Microforms & Statistical Services (GIMSS) Department (2nd Floor, East Tower) has one public scanner.  There are directions on how to scan images at each terminal.  You can also ask our helpful librarians or UITS staff for assistance.
