Fine Arts Visual Resources Center
The Visual Resources Center (VRC) provides image acquisition, reference, and presentation services to support the academic needs of the needs of the Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts, the Indiana University Department of the History of Art, and the larger IUB community. We assist faculty and students with Image resources and reference, image-based PowerPoint techniques, and image-related technology problems. We also provide training and assistance in using ARTstor, CAMIO, and other online subscription image services.
The VRC produces DIDO (Digital Images Delivered Online), a campus image bank of over 70,000 images screen-resolution images covering a wide range of art, architecture, and material culture. DIDO is available to the IU system via a CAS login. Higher quality licensed image content is now available to IUB users only via ARTstor hosting. These images will appear as part of any normal ARTStor search, but may also be browsed by collection. IUB users will see all our current licensed collections on their ARTstor homepage.
We no longer circulate slides from our analog slide collection of over 300,000 slides, or slide projection equipment, but this collection continues to be a valuable source of material for digitizing.
The VRC is open to all faculty and teaching staff, and to students and the public by appointment and via email. We are located on the ground floor of the Fine Arts Building, near the elevators. The VRC is not completely ADA accessible. Hours: 9:00am--5:00pm Monday through Friday, while classes are in session.
