Have You Been Cited?
Have You Been Cited? The Web of science provides cited author references in a wide range of periodicals over a significant number of years. Other products, however, offer searchable cited references, and some allow searches of references in books and other non-periodical literature, an area mostly neglected in the Web of Science Citation indexes.
In searching cited authors, the search often depends on the citation style used in the articles that include the references: the Chicago Manual of Style, the APA 5th, the Modern Language Association (MLA) style, or other formats. Some databases have their own format, including the Web of Science, and the user must enter the search as the database instructions specify.
In many databases the user is searching the full text for an author and must use quotations marks to indicate a string of text. The search may retrieve both the author as author and the author as cited author. The search may also retrieve items in a bibliography as well as citations in notes.
