Ethnomusicology
Pertains to the intersdisciplinary study of all types of music from all cultures. Researchers listen to the sounds of music within particular cultures and events as well as people's ideas and beliefs about music. Broad research includes exploration of music's role in human life, analysis of the relationships between music and culture, and cross-cultural inspection of music. Related subjects include music and folklore, anthropology, African studies, Jewish studies, and Latin American and Carribean studies among others.
