Installation Instructions for Windows
The following instructions are for Windows users. Please read and follow to insure that the client software will function correctly. If you are a Mac user, proceed directly to the downloads section below.
- Install WebLab ViewerLite before you install SciFinder Scholar if you wish to be able to view 3D molecular models for structure results. (See important information below.)
- Click on one of the links below to download your preferred version of Windows client software.
- Choose to Open the file. A WinZip Self-Extractor screen will appear. Unzip to a temporary folder (e.g. C:Temp). Once you have received a message confirming that files have been un-zipped successfully, you may close the WinZip Self-Extractor Window.
- Setup should automatically start. If setup does not start go to the location you unzipped the files to and find the installer file sfs2007.exe.
- Follow the install wizard until installation is complete. Note: If the install wizard asks if you have a disk labeled site.prf choose No. Exit out of set-up; you do not want to delete temporary files.
- Locate the site.prf file in your temp folder (or other location chosen in step #3) and move it into C:SFSCHLR. (This file must be present in order for the program to run.)

Important information regarding WebLab ViewerLite and Discovery Studio Viewer (From the CAS web site)
Discovery Studio™ Viewer products from Accelrys are visualization tools that allow you to view 3D molecular models for structure results.
- DS Visualizer may be obtained from Accelrys at http://www.accelrys.com/products/downloads/ds_visualizer/.
- ViewerLite is no longer supported by Accelrys, Inc. but, for a limited time, may be downloaded free of charge SciFinder Scholar customers only. ViewerLite is provided "AS IS", without warranties of any kind.

SciFinder Scholar User Agreement
You certify to the following before you use SciFinder Scholar:
- I am a current faculty or administrative staff member, or officially registered student of INDIANA UNIVERSITY;
- I will use SciFinder Scholar only for my own academic research done in the course of pursuing my degree, or in instructing my students, or, in the course of my own research funded by the government or a non-profit foundation and intended for the public domain;
- I will NOT use SciFinder Scholar for commercial research; for example, research that is done under a funding or consultant contract where the results are delivered to a for-profit organization, or for research that involves patentability searching. - I will use my search results in the ordinary course of academic research and acknowledge that I may store search results in electronic form for the duration of research projects, provided that at any one time, I store no more than 5,000 records. I may share search results in a limited, reasonable way with other INDIANA students or faculty working on the same project, but I will not aggregate my electronic search results with those of anyone else. I will delete stored records when I no longer need them for the relevant research project, or after the completion of my degree program, whichever occurs first. If I need to use search results beyond what is described here, I will contact my INDIANA Key Contact (Roger Beckman beckmanr@indiana.edu) to discuss and to obtain CAS permission. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I AM NOT PERMITTED TO DISTRIBUTE ANY CAS DATA OR SCIFINDER SCHOLAR, FOR COMMERCIAL GAIN OR OTHERWISE, OUTSIDE INDIANA UNIVERSITY OR TO THIRD PARTIES.
