ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (formerly "Dissertation Abstracts International") is the most comprehensive source for information about U.S. doctoral dissertations. It also contains references to selected master's theses.

The database includes citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester, although the entry of some is delayed. For abstracts of dissertations between 1942- 2000, use the print version of DAI in the Reference Department of the Wells Library, call number AS30.M6.  The Indiana University Libraries have access to complete dissertations from 1997 to the present for all Committee on Institution Cooperation (CIC) institutions.

Dissertations may be requested through Interlibrary Loan using the library's Document Delivery Services. Dissertations can also be purchased from UMI.
