Database available to authorized IU Bloomington users (on or off campus)
The full text of the New York Times from its first issue in 1851 to the present, with a two-year embargo period. Images of the actual texts of articles and of the full page on which the articles appear are presented. Supplements, including the Magazine and the Book Review, are present. Searches can be limited to a supplement or a section only with this command
section(magazine) -OR- section(business)
The text is fully searchable, although some caution is advised. The vendor describes the scanned texts as having an 80% accuracy rate, a very high error rate. The vendor also claims a higher level of accuracy for the citations and abstracts, where available, but errors are readily apparent there as well. It would not be reasonable to conclude that an item searched and not found does not exist. Those events, people and things that can be found using this resource are, however, entirely wonderful.
