In the First Person is an index to nearly 4,000 collections of English-language personal narratives from around the world. The narratives include letters, diaries and oral histories. The full text of many of the documents is available and for others there is a bibliographic citation to the source. Some results link to websites. The narratives are those of individuals from all walks of life. Search for example WPA and among the results is: Document of Sanders, Viola Brown, 1921- 12-Aug-1999 in Mississippi Oral History Project, with the text of her interview.
