Online archive of the newspaper Pravda from its beginning in Petrograd in 1912 to 2009. There is no need to dwell on the importance of the newspaper itself for studies on the Soviet Union. It was launched by Lenin; it survived, usually under different titles, the repeated suspensions by the tsarist government before it became the organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union; many important Bolshevik leaders (including Stalin) worked with the newspaper; and it voiced the views of the leadership of the Soviet Union. The newspaper has long been available in microfilm. Now IU students, faculty, and staff access it, on and off campus, through the Internet.
