The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (DNB) is the online version of the 60-volume print Oxford DNB, published September, 2004, a major revision of the original Dictionary of National Biography and its supplements.
The Oxford DNB includes 50,000 biographies of deceased people who shaped the history of the British Isles. Enhancements in this new edition include expanded coverage of women in all periods, business and labor figures, non-metropolitan figures, colonial America, and the twentieth century in general.
