What is OneSearch @IU?
OneSearch @IU is a new search tool that allows you to search multiple research databases at once and identify recommended subject specific resources. OneSearch is connected through the IU Bloomington Library web site pages in the Find Information section and in Recommended Resources in the Libraries, Collections and Departments section.
What is a QuickSearch?
Use QuickSearch to search for a keyword or several keywords in one, several, or all or the pre-selected databases that may be searched. These databases were selected to help you find information on a broad variety of topics.
How do I select databases other than those already checked?
Click on the box next to the name of the database to select it. Click on an already checked box to remove that database from your search. Multiple databases may be selected for each search.
How do I know what is included in each database?
Read the description next to the same of the database. For more information, click on the About link if you are using a subject page from the Find Information pages or a Recommended Resources page on the library web site.
Will I need to change the "Search Settings"?

What is My OneSearch?
My OneSearch allows you to save the results of your search to view or use later. You may review the search set later, combine it with another set of search results, or email it to yourself. You MUST log in before you save any materials to My OneSearch. If you do not log in before saving, you will not be able to retrieve the results set you saved. Unfortunately, logging in causes the results of your search to be lost. Be sure to remember your search so that you can enter it again.
Why is the title of the article in red?
You may click on the title to get more information about the item. In many cases, the full-text of the item may be available.
What does Total and Retrieved mean on the search results page?
A maximum of 10 records for each database are retrieved. Total is the total number of hits from that database. Click on "Show Search Progress" in the left column to find the total hits from each database.
What happened during my search?
Click on "Show Search Progress" in the second box in the left column of the results search page to check the status of each database. You will see if a database was searched or if the search failed. You will also see how many records were found in each database searched. If you have questoins or problems, click on the Contact Us link in the top right corner of the results pages.
How can I see more than 10 citations from each database?
Click on "Search Settings" (below the Search button) before you begin your search. Find the "Results Per Source" option. Click on the radio button next to the number you wish to include in your result list. Use caution when changing this setting when searching several databases.
What if no citations appear on the search results page?
There may be a variety of reasons why no citations appear on the search results page.
How do I see the next page of results?
At the right bottom of the page there is a set of arrows. Click on the arrow on the right side of the box to get the next 10 results. Click on the arrow at the far right to get the last page of results. Click on the arrow on the left side of the box to get the previous 10 results. Click on the left arrow to return to the first page of results.
What does "Get More Records" mean?
"Get More Records" will display the next set of records (i.e. records 11-20, 21-30, etc.) of each database that was selected to be searched.. Reminder: unless you change the default, 10 records per database are displayed.
How do I print my results?
Mark the citations you wish to print by clicking on the box next to the title. Click on "Show/Print Marked Titles" in the fifth box in the left column of the result page. Use the browser's print function to print the marked titles.
How do I email results?
Mark citations using the check box next to the titles. Click on "Email Marked Titles" located in the third box in the left column of the search results page. Type a complete email address, i.e. username@indiana.edu. Click on the "Send" button. Caution: you must mark items before attempting to email.
What does "Show/Print Marked Titles" mean?
"Show/Print Marked Titles" will delete all records that are not marked. The marked titles that are displayed may be printed using the browser's print function.

IU-Link, based on Ex Libris' SFX software, allows you to link from article citations in selected databases to full-text and other services that are available from the Indiana University-Bloomington Libraries. Click on the IU-Link button to:
What happens if I select Online Full-Text Journals and Newspapers?
Selecting "Online Full-Text Journals and Newspapers" will link you to the IUB Libraries web page Search for Online Full-Text Journals and Newspapers. From this page you may search for a specific journal or newspaper online or a specific article from a journal or newspaper. When searching for a specific article input as much information as you know.
