Books and Journals in Print (Life Sciences Library)

Finding and Locating Materials in the Collection

Use IUCAT, the computerized catalog of holdings for all of the Indiana University Libraries, to determine whether material is located in the Life Sciences Library or at another IU library. Searches can be performed by author, title, periodical title, series, subject, or keyword.  Please consult with a library staff if you have any questions about the availability of materials.

    • Reference books are arranged by call number near the computers.
    • Current unbound journals, usually less than a year old, are arranged by title.
    • Older bound journals and reviews have been moved to the Auxiliary Library Facility (ALF).  These volumes may be retrieved by requesting them through IUCAT.
    • Many journals are now available electronically, and can be accessed from the Life Sciences Library e-journals page.
    • Books are arranged by call number.  The books in the Life Sciences Library are mainly recent (from the last few years), high use, or representative titles in the life sciences.
    • New books are arranged by call number in the New Books section near the circulation desk.
    • A wide range of e-books are also available, through the Life Sciences Library e-books page.
    • Reserves are behind the circulation desk or available through electronic reserves at http://ereserves.indiana.edu/.
    • Use your IU ID card to borrow circulating material.
