All available back issues from v. 1, no. 1, February 22, 1867 through 2006 have been microfilmed and are available on the Bloomington campus at the Herman B Wells Library in Government Information, Microforms and Statistical Services, Room 250B.

Current issues (not yet microfilmed) are available at the Wells Library in the Kent Cooper Room and the Newspaper Reading Room.

A card index of the IDS, covering the period Feb. 22, 1867 - circa 1938, is available for use at the University Archives.

The University Archives maintains extensive clipping files, particularly for the last thirty years, which contain articles on many different subjects from the IDS and other newspapers. These are available to all researchers.

The University Archives also stores paper copies of the IDS for preservation purposes. Due to the fragile condition of these copies, individuals will be allowed access to them only in exceptional circumstances.
