Titanic Sinks 100 Years Ago
04/15/2012
On April 15, 1912 at 2:20 AM, the Titanic sank into the North
Atlantic. This year commemorates the 100th year since the sinking
of that mighty ship. In ET2, we
have created a display along the front wall with newspaper articles
giving information about the Titanic and its sinking, as well as
highlighting a passenger from Bloomington, IN who died.
For more information on the actual events that took place, check out either our newspaper microfilm collection or Proquest Historical Newspapers. The Indiana University Libraries also have books and articles on the Titanic. A particularly interesting one is "Titanic Presumption" by Allen Guelzo (link available to IUB affiliated users). This article gives some history on the Titanic and tells about how the Titanic has been viewed over the years. It discusses the different movies and musicals that have been made based on this event.
So come on in to ET2 to check out our display and if you need help doing some background research don't be afraid to ask. We are here to help!
