Book signing and remarks by Michael Uslan, Executive Producer of the Batman Films
10/25/2011
Michael Uslan
Michael E. Uslan, the originator and Executive Producer of the Batman movies, will celebrate the release of his new memoir The Boy Who Loved Batman at 5:30 pm on Friday, October 28 at the Lilly Library. A reception will follow.
An avid comic book collector
from a very young age, he eventually amassed over 25,000 comic
books, which are now housed at the Lilly Library. While still an
undergraduate he developed a course idea for the Experimental
Curriculum program at IU and went on to teach the first course on
comic books ever offered at an accredited
university.
In his memoir, Uslan recalls his journey from early childhood fandom through to the decades he spent to bring Batman to the silver screen as the dark, serious character he was at heart. The Batman franchise has now grossed over 2.7 billion dollars. The next film in the series, The Dark Knight Rises, is set for a planned summer 2012 release.
