Improved ProQuest interface and searching functionality
07/13/2011
The new search platform for ProQuest has been implemented across
IU Libraries. Among other improvements, the new interface enables
you to cross-search some or all ProQuest databases
simultaneously. This has also allowed us to create groupings
of databases by topic or format (for example, historical
newspapers and journals, as illustrated). The new search screen
provides improved searching functionality, as well as more
information about what you can find in each database.
• To find the search screen that guides you through limits
to your search terms, click the link for Advanced Search.
• The initial release includes databases on the current
ProQuest platform, CSA Illumina databases, and some
Chadwyck-Healey databases (British Periodicals, IIMP, and IIPA).
Our ProQuest subscription includes 45 databases.
• View the
full list of all databases moving to the new platform.
Additional databases will be migrated over the coming year.
• For helpful information, refer to Proquest’s
training and support materials.
The new platform may result in changes that will impact some
users of ProQuest databases. If you experience
difficulties, contact us
so that we can work with you and the vendor to resolve any
issues.
EndNote users - Currently, citations cannot be
downloaded when searching ProQuest using Internet Explorer as
your browser. They are aware of this problem and are working
toward a fix; in the meantime, you may import records into
EndNote by using Firefox.
