On Tuesday, March 22, 2011, Judge Denny Chin of the federal district court in New York City issued a long-awaited ruling on the proposed settlement agreement in the Google Books case. The ruling essentially rejected the agreement that had been proposed between Google and the plaintiffs (authors and publishers), but left open the possibility for the parties to renegotiate and resubmit another agreement.
