Voting Opens for 2011 One Book One Bloomington
10/29/2010Bloomington, IN's Community members have the opportunity to vote for the 2011 One Book One Bloomington & Beyond selection. Voting to determine our Community Read begins November 1, 2010, and closes November 30. The announcement of the winning title will be made in January, 2011. Book groups all around the area, both formal and informal, are encouraged to discuss the selected title sometime between January and May.
Voting can be done in person. There are ballot boxes at these locations:
- Bloomington City Hall Atrium
- Monroe County Public Library: Main Library, Ellettsville Branch, Bookmobile
- Bloomington North High School Library
- Herman B Wells Library, IU-Bloomington (East and West Tower Reference Desks)
- Barnes &Noble Booksellers
- Borders Books & Music
- Howard's Bookstore
Voting can be done online or by phone: members of the community are invited to cast their vote at www.mcpl.info/onebook or call the MCPL Information Desk at 349-3228.
This year’s nominees for our Community Read are: Crescent by Diana Abu-Jaber, The Girl Who Fell from the Sky by Heidi Durrow, Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann, and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. One Book One Bloomington & Beyond is a project of City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, Indiana University Libraries-Bloomington, Monroe County Community School Corporation, and Monroe County Public Library. It seeks to promote literary reading and to build community by engaging citizens in the discussion of social issues in the One Book selection.
