Honoring Veterans
11/09/2009
To celebrate Veterans Day, observed as a federal holiday
on November 11, Government Information and Kent Cooper
Services honors the U.S. military with displays that will run
through the end of the month.
A hanging display in the Wells Library (second floor, east tower) features reproductions of paintings done by a group of active duty soldier-artists at the Center of Military History. Entitled The Noncommissioned Office Images of an Army in Action, the images illustrate how non-commissioned officers commanded squads, gained mastery in advanced technology, trained soldiers, and completed a multitude of extraordinary missions over the past 200 years.
The department also features displays of Veterans Day throughout the years and the military at IU, thanks to Margaret Baechtold, Veterans Support Services Director.
Displays were coordinated by Kimberly Horne, Government Information and Kent Cooper Services.
