View PCB Documents in Wells Library
03/07/2008
Students, faculty, and citizens may view recently issued
government documents relating to polychlorinated biphenyls, or
PCBs, at the Herman B Wells Library.
Again in the local news because of recent plan to clean up three
PCB-contaminated sites in Monroe County, PCBs may cause cancer
and other health problems.
The Consent Decree Amendment for PCB sites, Bloomington, Monroe
County, Indiana, and Spencer, Owen County, Indiana, was issued
Feb.19, 2008. Public may
comment through March 27, 2008 per the Federal Register
notice, Feb. 26, 2008. (v. 73, no. 38, p. 10286-7)
< P>
The amendment may also be examined on the Department of
Justice Web site. Alternative remedial actions are
proposed by the U.S. EPA for Neal's Landfill, Lemon Lane
Landfill, and Bennett's Dump, three of the six PCB sites included
in the original Consent Decree.
The decree and PCB repository collection are housed in the
Government Information, Microforms and Statistical Services
Department (GIMSS), C264 in the
Herman B Wells Library at 10th Street and Jordan
Avenue.
The PCB repository collection, consists of newspaper clippings, applications, decrees, and
other publications related to the PCB issue.
