Exhibit on Clocks and Time on Display at Lilly Library
10/19/2007
"Keeping Time: Books on Clocks and Time" is currently on
display in the Lilly Library Main Gallery.
"Keeping Time" explores horology, or the science and art of
measuring time. The exhibition focuses on horological books but
also comprises literary and other works that use clocks and time
as a theme or motif.
The inspiration of this exhibition comes from the 2006 gift by
Teresa Lemon Shepro of the collection of horological books
assembled by her late husband, Justice Warren Shepro, many of
which are featured in the exhibition.
Mr. Shepro was a lawyer, businessman, and an expert in the field
of horology. Over a period of 30 years he assembled one of the
largest collections of timepieces in the world.
"Keeping Time: Books on Clocks and Time" will be
on display at the Lilly Library Main
Gallery from September 24 to December 15, 2007.
