Film Archivist to Hold Presentation at the Lilly Library

Renowned film archivist David Francis will hold a
presentation "Why Archiving Matters" on Tuesday, October
30 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lilly Library.
Francis has worked with audiovisual conservation for more than
four decades, and has served as curator of the British Film
Institute National Film and Sound Archive and chief of the
Library of Congress Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded
Sound Division.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
This event is part of archives and special collections month. In
its second consecutive year, and hosted by IUB Libraries,
this year's activities highlight the importance of films and
film-related collections to teaching and research. "Reel
Images: Film in Teaching and Research" runs through October and
features panels, speakers, and film screenings.
