Remembering Chancellor Wells

01/01/2002

Picture of Herman Wells
Herman Wells, Indiana University’s beloved chancellor who died in March 2000, is the subject of a book celebrating his role in higher education.

The Wells Archive: Exploring the World of Higher Education, by Jim Capshew, professor of history and philosophy of science, and Phil Bantin, director of the IU Archives, celebrates Chancellor Wells’ life with an original essay, a guide to the Wells Archive, and over 100 photographs.

Created to accompany a symposium about higher education, the book is a warm tribute to the university’s renowned chancellor and a welcome remembrance of his life and administration of Indiana University.

You may order the paper-bound book from the IU Libraries Development Office by calling (812) 855-1628. Price: $18.00.

The IU Archives is a part of the Indiana University Libraries.
