Goehlert, Riesenman Receive Jenkins Award

11/09/2006

Bob Goehlert, librarian for economics, political science, and criminal justice, has been awarded the 2006 William Evans Jenkins Award. The Jenkins Award recognizes noteworthy and outstanding contributions to the Indiana University Libraries or to the library profession in general by a present of former IU Bloomington librarian.

Goehlert has worked in his current position since 1974. Besides serving in his role as librarian, he has also taught courses in the School of Library and Information Science and the Department of Political Science. In addition, Goehlert's involvement with the League of Nations Photo Archive project led to his role as a member of a team that worked with the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland to create an exhibit and Web site honoring Nobel Peace Prize winners.

Goehlert shares this year's Jenkins Award with co-winner C. Patricia Riesenman, a former reference librarian for Wells Library. Riesenman retired from IUB Libraries in 1997 but continues to offer her services in the Machine-Assisted Reference Section of the Reference and User Services Association, which is a division of the American Library Association.
