Upton Sinclair Biographer to Speak at Lilly Library

10/03/2006

Associated Press
Join us for Radical Innocent: Upton Sinclair, the second event of a monthlong celebration of our shared history revealed through archives and special collections.

Famous literary muckraker Upton Sinclair exposed the deplorable conditions of the Chicago stockyard in The Jungle. In writing his biography of Upton Sinclair, however, Anthony Arthur says he approached the subject not as a social activist, but as a writer. A former newspaper reporter, business writer and professor of English at California State University, Arthur conducted extensive research at IU's Lilly Library.
