Don Quixote Across the Centuries:
An Exhibition Commemorating the IV Centenary
of Miguel de Cervantes's Don Quixote (1605-2005)
Lilly Library
September 22-December 17, 2005
Translated into more than seventy languages, Don Quixote is one of the most influential works of fiction of all time. The numerous renderings into other languages speak eloquently of Don Quixote's prominence in the history of literature. Miguel de Cervantes's masterpiece, however, has resonated with more than readers. Across the centuries, artists, composers, choreographers, and writers have found in Don Quixote an endless source of inspiration.
Featuring a selection of precious Don Quixote editions and media adaptations from the IU Libraries collection, "Don Quixote Across the Centuries" explores the enduring legacy of Miguel de Cervantes's masterpiece on the literature and arts of the world.
The opening of the exhibition coincided with The Don Quixote 1605-2005 Symposium sponsored by the IU Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
"Don Quixote Across the Centuries" runs from September 22 through December 17, 2005. The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Lilly Library's hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
