One Book One Bloomington and Beyond: Call for 2005 Nominations
10/05/2004
In 2002, we read A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines.
In 2003, we read 1984 by George Orwell.
In 2004, we read Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi.
What book should all of Bloomington (and beyond) read in 2005? Nominations should fit the following criteria:
-A work of fiction
-Available in paperback
-Accessible to high school students ages 16 and up
-A work that lends itself to thoughtful discussion
Nominations can be e-mailed to info@artlives.org (OBOB in the subject line), or dropped off or mailed to the John Waldron Arts Center, 122 South Walnut Street, Bloomington IN 47404. Nominations must be received by Friday, October 15 at 5pm. Please include both title and author.
The project's Steering Committee, made up of local librarians and other avid readers, will select the finalists. The public will then vote on the nominations between November 1 and December 1. The winning title will be announced at a public event in January 2005.
