Digital Library Brown Bags

09/23/2004

Digital Library presents Fall 2004 Brown Bag Sessions:

"Variations2: Moving Beyond Access to Pedagogy"

Presented by: Mark Notess, Development Manager, Variations2 Digital Music Library

Variations2 has built on the foundation of the very successful VARIATIONS project to create a digital music library addressing the particular challenges of searching for music. But Variations2 is more than a search and retrieval tool: it supports pedagogical use of digital library content by offering tools for working with the materials after they are retrieved.  This presentation will describe and demonstrate the pedagogical features of Variations2, including the newly completed score annotation toolset.  The presentation will also illustrate Variations2 use in learning and teaching by reporting on several pilot projects, past and present, at IU and beyond.

Date:  Friday, September 24
Time:  11:30am -1:00pm
Place:  Main Library E174

The second brown bag in the series will be held on October 1.  The topic will be "How the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) are Changing Library Services: A Report from an ALCTS Conference."

For more information, please see the complete schedule of Brown Bag Sessions.
