Digital Traditions Folksong Database
     Commercial site from Mudcat Cafe Publications with an index of the Digital
     Tradition Folk Song Database (April 1999 version), containing over 7800
     American folksongs, searchable by keywords and including a thesaurus.

Sixteenth Century Ballads
     Commercial collection of "interesting" ballads from before 1600, containing sheet
     music and lyrics, both in their original form, and in a form intelligible to a modern
     listener. Includes texts of many pre-1600 ballads.

The Traditional Ballad Index
     Academic site with a traditional ballad index, a collaborative effort designed to
     help people find reference information on folk ballads. Not a source of song texts
     or of discussion of ballads, although it contains some summary information.

Traditional Music and Spoken Word Catalog
     The Library of Congress's American Folklife Center's (AFC) Online Card Catalog.
     Contains fully searchable bibliographic data representing approximately 34,000
     ethnographic sound recordings in the AFC archive.
