Cataloging: Area Studies Cataloging Section Staff

The Area Studies Cataloging Section was created in April, 1999 and is responsible for the cataloging of non-Western language monographs.

The section is informally divided into three units:

• CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean):  Staffing of this unit includes Charlene Hu (NACO cataloger for Chinese), Taemin Park (PCC/NACO cataloger for Korean), Junko Tanaka (NACO cataloger for Japanese)
• HAPY (Hebrew, Arabic, Persian, Yiddish) et al.:  Staffing of this unit includes Steve Hendren (PCC/NACO cataloger for Persian, Turkish, and Arabic script Central Asian languages), Laila Salibi-Cripe (PCC/NACO cataloger for Arabic and native African languages), Noa Wahrman (NACO cataloger for Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino), Michael Walter (PCC/NACO cataloger for Sanskrit, Hindi, Tibetan, Mongolian, and Cyrillic Central Asian languages)
• Slavic and East European:  Staffing of this unit includes Jackie Byrd (PCC/NACO original cataloger for Croatian, Greek, Polish, Serbian, Slovenian), Carl Horne (PCC/NACO original cataloger for Bulgarian, Czech, Estonian, Finnish, Georgian, Hungarian, Romanian, Macedonian, Slovak, Ukrainian), Marta Johnson (copy cataloger for all Slavic and East European languages), Michael Walter (PCC/NACO original and copy cataloger for Russian), Jola Wojciechowska (PCC/NACO copy cataloger for for all Slavic and East European languages)
