Digital Facsimiles (E. Lingle Craig Preservation Laboratory)
The digital reformatting process began with scanning items on our Epson Expression 1640XL. Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat were used to register, clean, and assemble digital versions of the original item. Adobe PDF was used to collate the final TIFFs into a digital copy which is stored in the IU Massive Data Storage System. Access to digital facsimiles is provided by a METS-based page turner created by the Digital Library Program. Selected items were also laser-printed onto permanent/durable paper, tested for toner adherence according to the National Archives and Records Administration Guidelines for Archival Copies, and bound according the the Library Binding Institute Standards, 9th edition.
