When writing papers about art it is strongly suggested that they include images to help illustrate points. Here are a few places you can find images.

 

Note: To use article and image databases off campus you must log in to the Indiana University system using your username and passphrase.

 

AP Images

An electronic library containing the AP's current photos and a selection of pictures from their 50 million print and negative library. International in scope.


ARTstor

A digital library of over 1,000,000 images in the areas of art, architecture, humanities, and social sciences.

 

British Library Ditigised Manuscripts

 

Camio

Over 100,000 downloadable digital images of art and other documents dating from BC to the present.

 

Corcoran Library

Corcoran College of Art and Design


Digital Images Delivered Online (DIDO)

60,000 images of art, architecture, and world cultures, from the Fine Arts Visual Resources Center and licensed resources. Available system-wide. Some imags are only available at IUB.

 

Ebsco Image Collection

A searchable collection of images ranging from photographs and maps to illustrations and etchings.

 

Enluminures

Image database of illuminated manuscripts.

 

Gallica

Image database for the Bibliotheque Nationale de France.

 

Hill Museum and Manuscript Library

St. Johns College

 

VADS

Online collection of more than 120,000 images of rare and unique library, museum, and archive collections across the United Kingdom.
