Finding Books
Use WorldCat

Limit results to IU Libraries in Bloomington
Search for Subject: social conflict case studies
Or use this subject search: ethnic conflict case studies
Use left-hand menu to limit results by format (Book/article/sound recording); language; or topic
For books, click the title to open the record; scroll down for location and call number
Consider using the Book Delivery service: click Go to IUCAT to Request Item and log in there, then select Request Delivery. Deliveries are made from any library or from the Auxiliary Library Facility to any other library of your choice—free!
To get your hands on an article use the IULink button (see below)
From a single item record, click Cite/Export; choose a citation style (e.g. APA); copy the citation into Word
Finding Articles
Try Academic Search (EBSCO)
This database includes articles from newspapers, popular magazines, and academic journals.
- Access the database from the IU Libraries home page or the Sociology Resources page. (If you are using the database off-campus, you will need to enter your user name and passphrase first.)
Click Advanced Search
Try the same search terms as in IUCat: e.g. Ethnic conflict in SU Subject terms (use the drop-down menu to select Subject terms search)
Sort by source
To limit your results to magazine articles, select Magazines from the “Source Types” menu box on the left and click Update
To save or print results, click the Add to Folder link at the bottom of the record
Go to Folder View on the right side of the screen under “Folder has items”
Select items you wish to save, print, or export
Select the citation format you wish to use (e.g. APA)
Click Print
Copy and paste into Word or print the page directly
Getting the articles
In most databases you will see an IULink button. Click the IULink button beside the article you want to read. This opens another window with several options:
If the article is available online, there will be a link to it at the top.
Otherwise, use the IUCAT link to check for print availability. Look at the complete IUCAT record for the location and call number. Check the holdings: do we own the particular volume and
year where the article is published?
Consider the request article service: for when we own the print journal but you don’t want to trek to the shelf! From the IU Libraries home page, go to Services/Delivery/Request Article Delivery. We’ll scan and send you an electronic copy of the article within a few days—free!
If not found in IUCAT, request the item via IU-Bloomington Document Delivery Service (ILL). This generates an electronic form so we can get the article from another library. Most requests are filled in a week to 10 days.
