The following databases provide access to electronic journals covering a range of topics including fashion, the retail industry, and interior design. Other research areas may include aspects of behavior, culture, education, criticism, history, methodology, perception, practice, process, and theory. Academic Search Premier (EBSCO)
Provides full text coverage of magazine, newspaper, and scholarly journals for almost every academic discipline.
American Periodicals Series Online
Digital archive of 1000 American magazine and journal titles, from 1740 to 1900.
Abstracts of international publications in all aspects of art and design since 1900; also photography since 1839, architecture and 19th century published prior to 1980.
Indexes articles on all aspects of art and architecture published in 370+ international periodicals since 1984 with full text coverage of selected journals starting in 1997.
Provides citations and abstracts for articles on all aspects of art and architecture published in over 420 international periodicals between 1929 and August 1984.
Arts and Humanities Citation Index
Search citations from arts and humanities journals published from 1977 to the present. In-library access is available for the years 1975-1994 on a networked CD-ROM.
ARTstor is a digital library of approximately 700,000 images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences with a set of tools to view, present, and manage images for research and pedagogical purposes.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals
Indexes more than 700 U.S. and foreign journals on architecture and design, with more than 75 percent not indexed in any other source.
Bibliography of the History of Art
Indexes and abstracts art-related books, conference proceedings and dissertations, exhibition and dealer's catalogs, and articles from more than 4,300 periodicals.
CAMIO RLG's Catalog of Art Museum Images Online
CAMIO (Art Museum Image Consortium) contains over 100,000 downloadable digital images of art works and other documents dating from BC to the present.
International index to design and craft journals; contains references to 500+ journals published since 1973 and data on over 50,000 designers, craftspeople, studios, workshops, etc.
Godey's Magazine, begun in 1830 by Louis A. Godey, was by far the most popular women's periodical of its day. The key to its success was the section of fashion plates, which were hand-colored by more than 100 women employed by Godey. Sentiment was abundant, and politics were excluded, but much on the education of women appeared. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900. The title varies slightly over the years.
Online version of award-winning Grove Dictionary of Art contains the full text of all 41,000 articles of the 34-volume print edition, including scholarly bibliographies.
