Broadside Ballad Index
Personal web site that lists 17th-century broadside ballad collections, with a few ballads and garlands from the 18th century.


Digital Traditions Folksong Database
Mudcat Cafe hosts the Digital Tradition Folk Song Database. Search the index of over 7,800 songs by keyword or browse by letter and title to find lyrics. Index is updated regularly.


Sixteenth Century Ballads
Collection of "interesting" ballads composed before 1600 compiled by an early music enthusiast. Contains sheet music and lyrics both in the original and in a form intelligible to a modern listener. Includes texts of many pre-1600 ballads.


The Traditional Ballad Index
Academic site with a traditional ballad index to help locate reference information on folk ballads. Does not provide song texts or discussion of ballads, although it contains some summary information.


Traditional Music and Spoken Word Catalog
The Library of Congress's American Folklife Center's (AFC) online card catalog. Fully searchable bibliographic information representing approximately 34,000 ethnographic sound recordings in the AFC archive.
