HOW TO FIND INFORMATION ON AFRICA AND THE AFRICAN DIASPORA IN THE LIBRARY
1. Ask the Librarian.
2. Consult the African Studies Collection
How to Find Sources:
For Books: Search IUCAT
a) Author: Gates, Henry Louis
b) Title: Africana: the Encyclopedia of the African and African American Experience
c) Keyword: Africa and Diaspora or African and slav*, etc.
For tips on effective keyword searching, see: Boolean Operators
If you can't find what you are looking for in IUCAT, search WorldCat.
You may submit an interlibrary loan request directly from WorldCat. Keep in mind that it may take 2-4 weeks for books to arrive, whereas articles generally can be obtained faster.
For Articles: Use Indexes
