Pertains to the study of the language, culture, history, literature and linguistics of Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries. Also addresses Iberian Medieval and Golden Age literatures, colonial Brazilian literature, South American literature, and Mexican literature.
![]() The IU Latin American and Iberian languages and literatures collection ranks among the top research collections in the country in Iberian Medieval and Golden Age literatures, colonial Brazilian literature, and South American literature. The Catalan literature collection is arguably the best in the country. The collection's holdings in modern Brazilian literature and Mexican literature are of national importance. Although Spanish and Portuguese language materials predominate, the collection also includes American native language materials, including Haitian Creole. Few other libraries collect this Caribbean language and IU's collection stands out as one of the best. Formats collected include monographs, serials, microforms, and videos.
