Ethnomusicology
Pertains to the interdisciplinary study of all types of music from all cultures. Researchers listen to the sounds of music within particular cultures and events as well as people's ideas and beliefs about music. Ethnomusicologists explore music's role in human life, analyze relationships between music and culture, and study music cross-culturally. Related subjects include music, folklore, anthropology, African studies, Jewish studies, and Latin American and Caribbean studies, among others.
